More info

My research interests are in the areas of manufacturing processes and particularly on machining, tooling and materials in this manufacturing domain. In my approach, I try to build key knowledge on cutting mechanics, thermal phenomena, tribology and chemical aspects of the machining process. These fundamental factors are most influential for process outcomes: efficiency, wear and degradation of tooling, tooling design, product surface quality and integrity. Addressing such variety of topics requires research over multiple research areas and length scales. Currently, I’m working to bridge materials science with process knowledge by analyzing the phenomena from atomic (TEM, APT), through micro- (SEM, XRD) to macro-scale (products, components, tools). I’m also working to support such analysis with modelling solutions at micro-level of thermodynamic (ThermoCalc) and kinetic (DICTRA) modelling to macro-level with FEM technique
