A strategic research area at LU. The Sustainable Production Initiative is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology and Lund University to develop world-leading knowledge on sustainable production.

The Sustainable Production Initiative involves more than 100 researchers and is supported and promoted by a large number of companies in several industries. The vision is to create a higher level of sustainability and strengthened competitiveness, through new concepts in product development, production systems and manufacturing processes that will support environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The activities focus on three parallel areas:

• sustainable product development
• sustainable production systems
• sustainable manufacturing processes
